Kim Kardashian West responds to critics claiming painting by daughter North is a fake
'My daughter and her best friend have been taking a serious oil painting class,' says reality TV star
Kim Kardashian West has spoken out after people accused her of lying about a painting her daughter North, seven, had painted.
On Tuesday, the reality TV star posted an Instagram Story of an oil painting by North with the caption “My little artist North.”
However, the painting immediately drew criticism as social media users compared it to the landscapes by famous American artist Bob Ross.
"The fact that Kim photoshopped North’s signature on this like girl.... she did not paint that," tweeted one person.
However, now Kardashian West has responded to the criticisms, stressing that North did in fact create the painting.
“My daughter and her best friend have been taking a serious oil painting class where their talents and creativity are being encouraged and nurtured," she wrote in a subsequent Instagram Story.
"North worked incredibly hard on her painting, which took several weeks to complete. As a proud mom, I wanted to share her work with everyone."
The entrepreneur and SKIMS co-founder went on to reference the comments online that people had made.
"I’m seeing op-ed pieces in the media and social media from grown adults breaking down whether or not my child actually painted this!
"How dare you see children doing awesome things and then try to accuse them of NOT being awesome!?!?!
"Please stop embarrassing yourselves with the negativity and allow every child to be GREAT!!!
“NORTH WEST PAINTED THAT PERIOTDDDDDABCDEFGZFDT!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! [sic]"
Now that Kardashian West has confirmed her daughter did in fact create the impressive painting, social media users are praising her talents.
"Kanye West & Kim Kardashian’s daughter North is already painting masterpieces at 7 years old," tweeted one person.
Another teased: "Please also sign us up for this 'serious oil painting class' that North West took."
