From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

KFC has had some pretty impressive marketing stunts over the years, from a bath bomb that smells just like fried chicken, to a £14,000 sandwich made from a meteorite, and even a chicken corsage.

But, the American restaurant chain has really pulled out all the stops with its latest wacky, yet completely genius, launch.

Famous in its own right, fast food fans consider the brand’s gravy to be so good that you could almost drink it.

So much so, that the masterminds at KFC are making dreams come true by creating three new cocktail recipes made using the Finger Lickin’ Good gravy.

That’s right, you can now enjoy the thick, meaty goodness of KFC’s iconic side with your favourite boozy tipple.

Inspired by the growing trend for ‘stocktails’ - meaty craft cocktails made with broth and booze – that can be found in some of the best bars across the globe, KFC has brought them to masses with its own take on three classic cocktails; The Gravy Mary, The Finger Lickin’ Sour, and The Southern Twist.

“Our fans repeatedly express their love for our gravy, which always sparks ideas within the team. We know our gravy is good enough to drink – so with stocktails being a real hit at the moment, what better ingredient to take them to the next level?” said Marion Racine, marketing manager at KFC UK & Ireland.

When it came realising the idea of creating genuine gravy cocktails, Patrick, an expert mixologist, said the key was finding flavours and ingredients that perfectly complimented the distinctive taste of KFC Gravy.

“For example, the Kentucky bourbon in The Southern Twist brings mellow, sweet spice notes to stand up against the savoury gravy,” he explained.

“The herbal note of parsley on the rim brightens the sip with the brown sugar softening the kick of bourbon and uniting the flavours.”

So, if you fancy chugging on one of KFC’s gravy-infused drinks then simply grab a pot of the good stuff from your local branch and follow one of the recipes below.
