Kate Garraway has spoken about not being able to see her husband, Derek Draper, on their 15th wedding anniversary.

Draper has been unwell with Covid-19 since March, when he was admitted to hospital.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, the 53-year-old said it is a “tough day”.

"What an extraordinary thing. I won't be able to see him today," the TV presenter told her colleagues.

When asked if she was going to visit Draper in hospital, Garraway replied: "I kind of hoped I would but it hasn't worked out that way for the visit.

"But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway. So it's a tough day."

As for Draper’s condition, he has been in a state of limited consciousness for several weeks and has been unable to speak.

“He's still here. There's not a huge amount of change,” Garraway said.

"There are so many seeming positives and then plungings.

"So, you have to think at least he's here with you.

“You have a flicker and then a bad day but you just have to keep going.”

Garraway previously spoke about her husband’s condition last week, saying that the “sadness” and “heartbreak” she has been experiencing have been “the most wearing things”.

In a new interview with You magazine, Garraway described the emotional toll she and her family have been coping with over the past few months.

“We hope and believe he will come out of it, but we just don’t know,” the 53-year-old said, who shares two children with Draper.
