From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

A World War II veteran is going viral after showing off his dance moves to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling.

On Sunday, the Stars and Stripes Honour Flight Twitter account shared the clip of 97-year-old Chuck Franzke dancing, where it has since been viewed more than 1m times.

In the clip, Franzke, a former Navy pilot, opens his front door while swaying to the music as Timberlake’s song plays, before stepping out onto his front step, where he continues dancing to the beat.

In addition to moving his feet, Franzke, who is practising social distancing from his home in East Troy, Wisconsin, amid the coronavirus pandemic, waves his arms back and forth.

The video has been met with an outpouring of support from people on social media, who have applauded Franzke for keeping his spirits up.

“Chuck is looking good. Keep dancing Chuck!” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “Go Chuck! Thank you for your service and dance!”

Franzke’s dance also captured the attention of Timberlake, who shared the clip on his Instagram Stories with the caption: “This just made my day.”

This is not the first time the veteran has gone viral for dancing in his socks. In 2018, Franzke first found internet fame with a video of him dancing to Frank Sinatra’s rendition of Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
