From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The couple exchanged vows earlier this month in front of an Elvis impersonator after the Billboard Music Awards.
Appearing on the radio show Capital Breakfast, Jonas agreed with one of the hosts who suggested that Diplo ruined the surprise when he shared it with his 5m Instagram followers.
“Diplo ruined it for you though,” one of the DJs said, according to The Blast, to which Jonas replied: “Diplo did. Yeah, he ruined it.
The Jonas Brother then added: “I love Diplo, but he loves his ‘gram more than a 13-year-old. He posts every five seconds. He literally, like, live-streamed with dog face filters.”
But despite sharing their wedding ceremony with the public, Jonas said he and his new wife aren’t mad at the famous DJ.
“We just laughed, we loved it,” Jonas said. “We thought it was ridiculous.”
Last week, Turner also discussed Diplo’s role in her wedding, announcing on the Graham Norton Show that her and Jonas didn’t “choose him to be our wedding photographer”.
“He just kind of decided to live-stream it. [What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas,” she said.
The couple is planning to have a second wedding ceremony in France this summer.
