Jenny Mollen has revealed she accidentally dropped her five-year-old son Sid on his head, causing him to fracture his skull.
The actress recalled the traumatic accident on Instagram, where she explained that her and her husband Jason Biggs had spent the week in the intensive care unit alongside their son.
“I am forever grateful to Lenox Hill downtown and @nyphopsital for their immediate response and aid,” Mollen captioned a photo of herself and her son, whose face has been covered with an emoji. “Thank you to all of the nurses, neurologists, paediatricians, residents, cafeteria staff and brave women that keep the visitor’s bathroom clean.
The 39-year-old then thanked her husband, writing: “Not sure how this post turned into an Oscars acceptance speech… but Jason Biggs thank god for you! Thank god, thank god, thank god.”
According to Mollen, Sid is now home “taking things slowly and recovering nicely”.
Mollen concluded the emotional post comforting parents who have gone through similar situations.
“My heart goes out to all parents who have or will ever find themselves in this kind of position. You are not alone…” she wrote.
Following her admission, Mollen has received an outpouring of support from other parents.
“My mom dropped us a bunch. Moms be droppin! You’re doing great! I’m so glad he’s doing ok!” one woman wrote.
Another said: “I so so appreciate you using your platform to be transparent about something that is so mortifying but also so common. S**t happens. I hope everyone is recovering well.”
Mollen, who also has a six-month-old son, previously revealed that she does not post Sid’s face on social media because she does not want him “recognised, harassed or interrupted in his daily life”.
“I also don’t think it’s fair to expose him without his knowledge and understanding,” she wrote on Instagram, before announcing that she would also be “blocking” her younger son’s face as well.
