From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Ikea has recreated iconic TV living rooms as part of its new ad campaign, and it means you will now be able to transform your home into the Friends apartment.

As part of its new United Arab Emirates campaign titled the “Real Life Series,” the Swedish furniture retailer designed the living room from The Simpsons, Monica’s living room from Friends, and Joyce Byers’s living room, Winona Ryder’s character on Stranger Things.

To create the rooms, the company used furniture entirely from Ikea - and some software to transform the rooms into 3-D models.

The results are Ikea-versions of the classic TV rooms, which will be on display at some IKEA stores in the Middle East, according to AdWeek.

In addition to designing the rooms using its own inexpensive furniture, the company has made it easy for customers to do the same - as it has listed all the items used in the models.

Although there are minor differences between Monica’s living room and what Ikea has referred to as “Room for Mates,” the inspiration is clear.

The Simpsons rendition is also spot-on, featuring the same pink wall paint, orange couch and tilted picture frame, while the Stranger Things room features the same Christmas lights as seen on the show.

According to the company, the campaign took months to perfect, as it required searching through all of its products to find pieces that fit.

“The Ikea team worked closely with the creatives for months. They went through hundreds of items to find the perfect pieces that would bring those iconic rooms,” Vinod Jayan, managing director for Ikea in the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman told Ad Week. “It was a great collaborative effort that led up to a stunning result.”
