If I Win The Lottery Tonight... Kelly Hoppen Interior Designer
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.I HAVE been playing the lottery ever since it started and have spent many a Saturday evening before the winning numbers are announced, fantasising about what I would do if I won, and that dream is always the same.
The money would be used for three causes: first to invest in the future of my three children, Natasha, Sienna and Savannah, so that they have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Secondly, I support and work closely with the Aids charity The London Lighthouse, to which I would donate a substantial amount of money. But the first thing I would do would be to organise the ultimate holiday for my family and closest friends that would end with the party of a lifetime.
Next, I would contact a travel agent that specialises in luxury holidays and ask them to find the most beautiful, exotic 12-bedroom house in the Far East. I would then design the most exquisite invitations and hand- deliver them to my friends, inviting them to stay. The holiday would begin with a private plane flying us out to the Far East, followed by a helicopter whisking us all off to the house. I would look forward to seeing the excited faces of my friends as we hovered above the house, taking in all the sights: the idyllic surroundings, the private golden beach, the bluest of pools and the magnificent white house.
The house would be spacious, minimalist and filled with exotic scents which would range from the flower arrangements using the local tropical fauna and flora, arranged by John from the Flower Van, to the bathrooms filled with Jo Malone products.
To achieve the ultimate in relaxation, I would organise the help of masseurs and reflexologists for the adults, and nannies to look after the children. Everyone would have a week of living a fantasy of the rich and famous: the ultimate food, the finest wine, beautiful surroundings, yachting, jet-skiing and having lots of fun.
This would culminate in the most talked-about party in the world. I would wear my stunning Ben de Lisi dress, with accessories from Cartier. We would eat delicious seafood caught that day and prepared beautifully by Anton Mosimann, whom I would fly out, along with David Copperfield, the amazing magician, and Elton John, who would play until sunrise.
Most important, I would make sure that I had a really good laugh with all my friends.
