On 6 February 1958 the Manchester United football team was involved in a plane crash which left 20 people dead.

The British European Airways plane burst into flames shortly after taking off from Munich airport.

Seven Manchester United football players, eight British sports journalists and several Manchester United officials were killed.

The team were on their way back from Belgrade, after qualifying for European Cup semi finals.
