Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In New York, thousands of yoga enthusiasts are limbering up for five days of downward dogs, master classes, and workshops with celebrity teachers Rodney Yee, Sean Corne, and Cyndi Lee. Yoga publication Yoga Journal is opening doors to its third Yoga Journal Conference in New York, May 12-16.
One of the premiere yoga events in the world, the event will offer more than 100 classes taught by more than 40 master and celebrity yoga teachers, including Bo Forbes, Dharma Mittra, Rod Stryker, and Ana Forrest.
This year's event will also include a Friday night talk with acclaimed American author Michael Pollen ( The Omnivore's Dilemma and Food Rules) and a keynote with model and yoga devotee Christy Turlington Burns.
Workshops and intensive classes will be offered, catering to both industry professionals and students. A Yoga Marketplace, featuring hundreds of health and yoga exhibitors, is free and open to the public during the entire conference. The conference also takes place later this year in Wisconsin and Colorado, with each drawing crowds of around four thousand.
Another top yoga event coming soon is the fifth Evolution Asia Yoga Conference in Hong Kong, from June 9-12. While not as large as the Yoga Journal conference, the concept is similar and the event is the largest of its kind in Asia, and will likely expand in coming years as Westernized yoga and major yoga brands continue to expand internationally. The event features master teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life, Rodney Yee, and Jason Nemer. Four-day passes sell for HK$4,999 (€441) or onsite at the event for HK$5,999 (€529).
A full four-day pass for the Yoga Journal conference is priced at $1,015/€775. A weekend pass costs $495/€378; a day pass is $285/€218.
