Perry, who is currently expecting her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, is nearing the end of her pregnancy and in recent weeks, fans have started speculating who the couple will choose to be their daughter’s godparents.
While the Friends actor has been tipped as the most likely option, Perry has denied the claims and said she has no idea where the rumour came from.
Speaking to KIIS FM radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O, the "Fireworks" singer explained: “She texted us, because we are friendly with her, and Orlando is one of her good friends. And we were like wow, this is a wild rumour.
“God knows she’s had everything said about her. This is a fun rumour. But no, we have no idea where it came from.”
Perry called the reports, “a product of the media and the internet”, saying sarcastically: “You should definitely believe everything you read.”
Earlier in the interview, Perry shared an update on her pregnancy and opened up about how her body has changed in the final stages.
“I’m really grateful for my body, and I have so much respect for other women going through this process," the singer said.
"You get a whole new viewpoint being pregnant.
“But everything is swollen. My hands are swollen, and my feet are starting to swell.”
Perry went on to admit that she will be “surprised” if their daughter is laid back as the “DNA between [her and Orlando] is very high energy”.
“But she’ll be what she is, and I’m sure she’ll be here to teach us a lesson,” she said.
Perry announced she was expecting her first child with Bloom in March when she unveiled her growing baby bump in a music video for the single “Never Worn White”.
The couple started dating on-and-off in January 2016 before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
Their wedding was set to take place in spring 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, but was postponed amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
Bloom is already a father to his nine-year-old son Flynn, whose mother is supermodel Miranda Kerr.
