From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A new kind of tampon developed by Lil' Drugstore Products, Inc. launched on September 23 that touts the label "gynecologist-recommended," as the RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons work to both provide absorption during your period and regulate your "vaginal pH," a world's first.

On September 30, Kristin Stewart, the director of marketing at RepHresh Brand, explained the company "has an international presence... offering products in 33 countries, including Europe."

However RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons ($6.99/€5 for a box of regular or super absorbancy) are currently only available in the United States.

What separates these tampons from, say, eco-friendly o.b. or the popular Tampax Pearls is they have"pH-reducing Micro-Ribbons" with citric acid and L-lactide to keep your vagina healthy and balanced during menstruation as the pH level increases to 7.4 compared to the "normal non-menstrual vaginal pH range," which "is 3.5 to 4.5," according to RepHresh's site.

Lauren Streicher, an OB/GYN, said, "Gynecologists have long been aware of the importance of maintaining a normal pH. This is an excellent improvement to traditional tampons, and many of my patients will benefit from it."
