This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Laughter, quality food and a good night’s sleep are the key ingredients for the average British adult’s “perfect day”, according to a new study.
A poll of 2,000 adults found how Britons would ideally choose to spend their time.
One in 10 wanted nothing more than to belt out a song in the shower and 15 per cent would choose to spend some time bingeing on a box set.
Three in 10 said they would relax and watch their favourite film, while one in five would indulge in retail therapy and top up their wardrobe by going shopping.
Another 29 per cent said they would set aside time for a family trip out, while 36 per cent hoped to find some money on their “perfect day”.
The study was conducted by Lottoland, whose spokesperson said: “We’ve all had days we thought were utterly perfect – ones we wish we could relive again and again.
“Our results found, quite sweetly, that most of Britons’ ideas of what a perfect day is are totally achievable.
“After all, it’s not impossible to take a day off work to spend the whole day at home in your pyjamas.”
According to the study, a “perfect day” for the majority of Britons would involve waking up at 8am and not going to bed until 11pm – giving them 15 hours of free time.
One in 10 parents confessed that for their perfect day, they would spend it with their partner – with no children allowed.
Four in 10 believed listening to music was key to having a perfect day, with some of the most popular songs for maximising enjoyment being including Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, and Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
For the majority of Britons, Queen’s feel-good hit “Don’t Stop Me Now” was the song they would most want to hear on their dream day.
And of the movies most people wanted to watch when chilling out, the top pick was Dirty Dancing, followed by Mrs Doubtfire, Star Wars and Love Actually.
A fifth of respondents said they would spend time in the pub on their perfect day and 22 per cent said they would love nothing more than to spend the whole day wearing their pyjamas.
Thirty per cent would choose to get out into nature and go for a long walk, and just eight per cent would spend time in the gym.
When it came to food, a third would pick a full roast dinner, while 28 per cent would choose a pizza.
And as the sun goes down, more Britons wanted to stay in with a good book than head out for a raucous night on the town.
