An inquest will be held today for a teenager who died after catching swine flu.

Madelynne Butcher, 18, fell ill after returning from a holiday in Tenerife to celebrate finishing her exams last summer.

The student, from Sholing in Southampton, became sick and short of breath and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

She was transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester for specialist treatment but died on August 6.

She had been due to study biology at the University of East Anglia.

An inquest into her death will be held today at Leicester Town Hall.
