YOUNG asthmatics keen on video games may need to take medication before playing. In the British Journal of General Practice, Dr Kieron Cooney, from St Mary's Hospital, Isle of Wight, relates the case of a 10-year-old girl with mild asthma who suffered an acute attack of breathlessness and wheezing after spending 20 minutes playing a computer game. Dr Cooney suggests that the excitement and intense concentration involved in the games may trigger an asthma attack.
