From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Chrissy Teigen has revealed that she’s feeling “off” on the week her still born son was due to be born.

In early October, Teigen posted a photo on Instagram which showed  her crying in hospital and being tended to by medical staff after having given birth to a stillborn baby at 20 weeks pregnant.

In a statement, the model added that she, and husband John Legend, had planned on calling their son Jack, adding: “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.

“We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough."

This week, Teigen - who shares daughter Luna Simone, four, and son Miles Theodore, two, with Legend - tweeted that she’s been feeling “off” as "my little Jack would have been born this week."

She added: "I truly feel kicks in my belly, but it's not phantom. I have surgery for endometriosis tomorrow... but the period feeling this month is exactly like baby kicks. sigh [sic]."

Alongside a video of her stomach appearing to subtly move, she added: "Look at this. I'll pretend it's him saying hi - it never stops."

In a subsequent tweet, Teigen also asked her followers for insight into the recovery process for endometriosis surgery, asking, "What is the recovery-difficulty level? like can I make soup after?"

According to the NHS, endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. It can affect women of any age, and can make it difficult to fall pregnant.

Teigen has been open about her grieving process since her pregnancy loss.

In November, she said she was in a "bit of a grief depression hole," updating fans a few days later that while it had been "brutal" at the time, she felt like she was improving mentally.

Later in December, Teigen opened up about coming to terms with never being pregnant again.

“I love being pregnant, so so much, and I'm sad I never will be again,” said Teigen.

"But I am lucky to have two amazing little ones who are transforming into big little people more and more every single day."
