From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

People believe they may have found the holy grail of drugstore skincare - and it's a bargain product which hails from Japan.

Technically a toner, although in Japan it’s called “lotion,” the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion has amassed a cult following online for its ability to transform the skin.

And with thousands of comments, blogs, and ratings dedicated to this lotion and its capability to change your life - it appears anyone who isn’t using the lotion is missing out.

Perhaps the best part? The lotion costs a mere $12 (£8).

Compared to the prices people are usually expected to shell out on skincare products, the price of the Hada Labo lotion is a draw all on its own.

But what is it? Although most of the bottle is in Japanese, the three most important ingredients are the three different types of hyaluronic acids.

Referred to by its nickname, “the fountain of youth,” on WedMD, hyaluronic acids attract and hold water - meaning they moisturise your skin, prevent ageing, fill thin lines, and create a barrier on your skin.

This may sound too good to be true - but considering the thousands of followers, it seems likely Hada Labo lotion is the skin care product we’ve all been looking for.

According to descriptions, the lotion resembles a liquid more than anything else - but a super lightweight one.

Thin compared to the face lotions most people use in their skincare regimes, the Hada Labo lotion is actually more of a serum - meaning it can sink deep into your skin to moisturise.

And the drug store brand clearly knows what they are doing - reviews of the lotion claim it is life-changing, hydrating, and magic.

On Reddit, one person wrote: “I definitely noticed a difference in terms of hydration, but the biggest difference has been reduction of wrinkles. I had frown lines and they’re now barely noticeable.”

Another wrote: “Total life changer for me!”

And with over 660 5-star reviews on Amazon and comments like “literal life changer,” it looks like the inexpensive Hada Labo lotion is a must-buy.
