Google home trends: Martha Stewart, Vitrine Magique, magic bullet

Martha Stewart, compact food processors and French household accessory retailers were among this week's Google Insights trends in the category of Home & Garden.

In the run up to Thanksgiving on November 25 Americans are turning to Martha Stewart, one of the cornerstones of the culinary world for recipe advice, with the term "martha stewart recipes" being one of this week's top Google trends.

Continuing the cookery theme was the search term "magic bullet": the manufacturers of this scaled down blender claim that its size and versatility make it perfect for everyday use. The Magic Bullet retails for $99 (72.26€)  and is available to buy from either https://www.buythebullet.com or www.amazon.com.

French and Belgian site Vitrine Magique (available in French only) sells a wide variety of household goods ranging from kitchen accessories to children's toys. The site was number eight in this week's Google home trends with an increase in searches of 80%.

Other popular search terms this week were Sumiati, the Indonesian domestic worker allegedly brutalized at the hands of her employer, and ???, the Chinese name for Barack Obama.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights under the category Home & Garden, recorded on November 19 at 9:00 AM GMT are:

3.       suze van rozelaar (breakout*)
4.       ????????? (strawberry night) (+700%)
5.       weeds season 7 (+550%)
6.       ??? (pronounced 'ria takashi') (+200%)

8.       vitrine magique (+80%)
9.       martha stewart recipes (+50%)
10.     magic bullet (+40%)

*Breakout defines a search term that has experienced a change in growth greater than 5,000 percent.
