With the number of celebrities at the Golden Globes, it’s unusual for an unknown to take centre stage. But this year the award for the most talked-about guest goes to the woman now known across the internet as “Fiji Water Girl”.

The woman, wearing an on-brand blue dress and carrying a tray of Fiji water bottles – the Golden Globes’ official sponsor – was seen in the background of a number of photos, including Cody Fern, Nicole Kidman, Idris Elba, and many others.

Instead of turning away or making herself inconspicuous, she seemed to revel in the opportunity to photobomb some of the biggest names in Hollywood, turning to the camera directly.

Online, people became instantly fascinated with the attendee, who has been identified as model Kelleth Cuthbert. Fiji Water made the most of the attention, tweeting: “We’re so glad everyone is talking about our water! *senses ominous presence* She’s right behind us, isn’t she? #FIJIwatergirl”.

Some Twitter fans were calling for her to get a bonus for a job well done promoting the brand, while others planned their application for the job next year.

An unverified Fiji Water Girl Twitter account addressed the furore by tweeting: “It was not a dream. I gave you the most entertaining Sunday of 2019.#GoldenGlobes”.

There are already calls for Fiji Water Girl to appear on a billboard on Sunset Boulevard, host the upcoming Oscars, appear on SNL, and get her own Netflix show.

Fiji Water Girl has quickly become a meme, with users photoshopping her into the background of famous scenes from TV shows such as Bird Box. James Cooper, host of the hit podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno is even planning to dress up as her for Halloween.

According to some, Fiji Water Girl was the “true hero” of the Golden Globes – out-smizing the celebrities and undoubtedly stealing the show.

After hours of speculation, the Fiji Water Girl appears to have identified herself in an Instagram post as Kelleth Cuthbert, a model based in LA.

She posted a photo of herself on the red carpet with the caption: "Not the worst way to spend a Sunday... #goldenglobesfijigirl #fijiwatergirl".
