From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Virgin Media has announced an incredibly fast new broadband tier for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Voom Fibre, which will be available from 2 May, promises download speeds of up to 350Mbps as standard.
Virgin Media says that’s four times faster than anything offered by its rivals.
Business customers will be able to choose between three different packages, which start at £30 per month. These are:
- £30 per month for 7Mbps upload
- £40 per month for 15 Mbps upload
- £55 per month for 20 Mbps upload
Virgin Media will also be offering a number of bolt-ons and discounts on “additional services” to help businesses “tailor the product to their specific business needs”, which can be discussed with the broadband provider.
“With the launch of Voom Fibre we want to unleash every small business by providing the digital backbone they need for their business,” said Peter Kelly, the managing director of Virgin Media Business.
“For UK small business to thrive in this evolving digital economy they should have the technical ability and capacity in place so they can focus on development and growth, we are removing a barrier and enabling them to fulfil their digital potential - offering them all the speed they need to achieve success.”
Ofcom recently revealed that Virgin Media broadband customers have higher levels of satisfaction than Sky, TalkTalk and BT customers.
The company recently made ultrafast 100Mbps fibre its standard package, a significant move considering that’s faster than the top speeds offered by some of its rivals.
Last year it launched Vivid 200 Gamer, a broadband tier specifically for gamers, offering download speeds of up to 200Mbps and upload speeds of up to 20Mbps.
