From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Apple is gearing up to release a new version of its iMac with a vastly improved 4K display, according to reports.
The computer could be released as soon as next week, though initial supplies might be constrained until November. And then the much-anticipated iPad Pro will be released early next month.
The company will announce the new computer next week and they could start appearing in stores as soon as 13 October, according to 9to5mac. They will mostly feature a redesigned display and new graphics cards, and apart from the screen will look identical to the existing iMac line.
The iPad Pro is set to be released in early November, according to the same report. Apple didn’t announce a release date for the huge new laptop at its launch event last month.
Apple has also been preparing a new Magic Mouse that features Force Touch, its pressure-sensitive technology that can trigger extra events by pressing hard. That has already been rolled out to other Apple computers, such as the MacBook laptops.
