Resident Evil Zero remastered: remake of already remade game to be released next year

New game will come out for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 in early 2016

Capcom will again remake one of the early Resident Evil games, this time choosing to rerelease an early prequel with the game’s original designers.

The developer will release Resident Evil Zero in early 2016, for PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The release will mark the first time that the game will be available outside of Nintendo’s consoles.

The game depicts events before the beginning of the first Resident Evil and was first released on the GameCube in 2002. It was then remade in 2008 and released for Wii.

Members of the original design team, including director Koji Oda, will be joining the team to remake the game, Capcom said.

The developer has already remastered the original Resident Evil — and says in the new announcement that game is being played by over 1 million people. The first game was released in 1996, and has gone through a range of remakes before being released most recently at the beginning of this year.
