Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Apparently yes: Wendy's, the world's third-largest fast-food chain, is set to launch 180 new Wendy's/Arby's locations throughout Russia by 2020.

"Russia is a dynamic market which offers significant long-term expansion potential. We are very pleased to partner with WRG - their extensive knowledge of the Russian foodservice market will allow us to bring our premium hamburgers and roast beef sandwiches to consumers across the country," announced Wendy's/Arby's Group president and CEO Roland Smith on August 11.

McDonald's has been in Russia for over 20 years with 250 locations and continues to expand. Burger King opened its first restaurant in the country in January.

However, Wendy's may have Russians asking the other fast food chains "Where's the beef" after being voted number one in food quality by over 6,500 fast-foodies via ZagatBuzz, the online companion to the oldest crowd-sourcing dining guide also referred to as the "burgundy bible."
