Wetherspoons has announced it will begin to sell Beyond Meat vegan burgers from 11 March.

The Beyond Burger will replace the pub-chain’s current vegan option and will be made available in all of its 874 pubs in the UK and Ireland.

Beyond Meat is a California-based company and and its plant-based burger is replacing the one from UK company Meatless Farm, whose product Wetherspoons introduced as their first vegan burger in October 2019.

Their patties, which can currently be found in Byron, are not just vegan friendly, but are free of GMOs, soy and gluten, making the burgers accessible to a variety of customers.

In a press release, Wetherspoons‘ head of food James Robinson explained they are putting the new burgers onto the menu.

“We are always on the look out for new and innovative products, to bring further choice and quality to our customers,” said Mr Robinson.

“Our Beyond burger offers a great new option for vegans and vegetarians, as well as anyone wishing to reduce their meat intake, which is an ever-growing number.”

Vegan burgers were initially introduced to Wetherspoons as part of a wider launch of vegan products, which included Heinz No Added Sugar Beanz added to their breakfast.

The Vegan Beyond Meat burger will be priced at £6.45 for the classic version with a soft drink or £7.45 with an alcoholic drink.
