From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

An ode to seafood, a tour of some of the most iconic restaurants in the US with celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, and an online burger channel are some of the new shows that will kickstart the summer season on The Cooking Channel in the US.

The lineup, announced Monday, includes new series premieres like Hook Line & Dinner, in which host Ben Sargent travels the US coast uncovering the country's best seafood joints like crab shacks and chowder houses. In each episode, Sargent also teams up with a local expert to fish for his dinner and help cook the catch in a local seaside kitchen.

The Originals with Emeril takes viewers across the US to visit restaurants which boast the best of the best: the best fried chicken in Atlanta, and the best Veal Parmesan and Porterhouse steaks in New York.

Grilling Week, which begins June 12, will also air encore episodes and specials dedicated to all things barbecued, with programs from BBQ with Bobby Flay, BBQ Boot Camp and BBQ Circuit.

Viewers can also find new burger recipes and ideas on the channel's online site CookingChannelTV.com, ranging from bison burgers, bacon-wrapped meatloaf burger to crab burgers.

Hook Line & Dinner premieres Tuesday, June 7 at 10:30 pm EDT on The Cooking Channel, while The Originals with Emeril starts Thursday, June 2, 10:30 pm EDT.
