Second helpings... More Italians with class
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The already splendid surroundings of The Ritz Restaurant go even more splendido from Monday to Friday this week, as the chefs of Portofino's magical Hotel Splendido and the Splendido Mare move in with a special menu of Ligurian flavours offered in addition to the Ritz's regular lunch and dinner menus. Taste the sunshine in fresh clam soup with pine nuts and marjoram, and scampi risotto with pumpkin flowers.
Walnut Tree Inn Llandewi Skirrid, Abergavenny, tel: 01873 852 797
Thirty-seven years of Franco and Ann Taruschio must have been a hard act to follow but new owners Stephen Terry and Francesco Mattioli respect the past enough for the future to be in safe hands. The talented Terry pays homage to Taruschio's classically Italian flavours and way of doing things, while adding some loosely based Mediterranean ideas of his own. Still worth going well out of your way for.
Sartoria 20 Savile Row, London W1, tel: 020 7534 7000
The decor and detail of this chic Conran establishment are a whimsical salute to Savile Row's tailoring traditions. The menu, however, is a serious look at classic Italian cooking, from porchetta of suckling pig with fennel seeds, thyme and garlic, to wild salmon with lardo, trevise and aged balsamic. Add expert service and a good Italian wine list and you may have to talk to your tailor about a little discreet letting-out.
