Call it good marketing – or naked opportunism – but supermarkets were reporting yesterday that the heady drama unfolding at Chile's "miracle" mine prompted a spike in sales of plonk from a nation already making waves in the wine world.
Whether or not you buy the ruse, you'd do well to pick up a bottle. The Independent's wine expert, Anthony Rose, recommends a 120 Carmenere from Santa Rita (2008) – a snip at £6.24 from Majestic Wine.
