From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Each day, starting 5 August, a daily 24-hour website will be revealed through Chipotle’s UK Facebook and Twitter, with the first 2,000 people to visit it and provide their email address being given a downloadable unique burrito voucher valid at any London restaurant for 14 days.
The process will then be repeated each day for seven days.
The Mexican chain will make you work for your burrio however, revealing the websites' URLs in a ‘speed reading’ format - where individual words making up the website will flash up momentarily.
A pinto bean-slinging Father Christmas, Chipotle UK managing director Jacob Sumner said: "We are committed to changing the way people think about and eat fast food, and we like to have a bit of fun along the way: we’re treating Londoners to 14,000 tasty foil-wrapped burritos."
