From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Natalie Sideserf, from Texas, is seen posing ‘next to’ Mike Ehrmantraut - the character from hit TV series Breaking Bad in one of the amazing pictures.
But Mike, complete with a bloody gash above his eye and the trademark whispy grey beard, is made from cake and modelling chocolate.
She told Bored Panda: “The inside is made of layers of vanilla cake and swiss buttercreaam.
“Once carved, the entire cake is covered in a layer of chocolate ganache and a final layer of modelling chocolate to sculpt the details.”
She first became known for her incredible creations when she made a cake featuring representations of the severed heads of her and her husband for their wedding day. It was accompanied by a label saying: “Til death do us part.”
She told ABC News: “We were watching a horror movie, and I was always interested in sculpting lifelike cakes, especially in the face, so I thought, 'How neat would it be if I did our severed heads?’
“I didn't tell anybody about it, so it made it really interesting to see people's reactions. Everybody was shocked and loved it.”
Despite her talent, she only has a modest 8,000 fans on Instagram, where she has also shared images of cakes that look like circus elephants and a mythical creature known as a jackalope.
There are also heads impaled on spikes, and an eye-catching cake topped with a realistic heart.
A video posted on her Instagram page shows her decorating it by pouring a gloopy red substance over it so make it look like it is freshly removed from a body.
Her fans were impressed, with one writing: “This is so amazingly wow,” and another chiming in with: “You are such a legend! You just breathe talent!”
