Known for their modern Japanese cuisine, Fitzrovia café Tombo is taking its love of all things Japanese one step further by launching an exclusive Hello Kitty-themed pop up for the next six weeks.
The iconic Sanrio character will be taking residence at Tombo Fitzrovia, which is a Japanese-British family-run affair famed for its award-winning matcha tea handpicked from the foothills of Mt. Fuji and Japanese cuisine; their top grade sashimi fish and their Japanese style poké dishes.
Guests can expect Hello Kitty-inspired new items on the menu; think Hello Kitty special poké bowl, Hello Kitty ice cream sundaes, Hello Kitty cupcakes, and other desserts.
Matcha lovers will be delighted as drinks served in-store uses exclusive Hello Kitty designs to give each drink the special feline’s wow factor.
Also on sale is a range of Tombo tea created bespoke for Hello Kitty, including ceremonial grade matcha tins, matcha latte mix and new flavour Kukicha green tea infused with yuzu: a popular citrus fruit in Japan believed to be rich in antioxidants.
Expect to get lost in the world of Hello Kitty as there will be a whole range of merchandise on offer including Hello Kitty tote bags, postcards and posters - all featuring special edition tea ceremony and tea picker Hello Kitty artwork designs.
Those who can’t make it down to Fitzrovia, Tombo’s two other outlets in South Kensington and Soho will be stocking a range of Hello Kitty merchandise and offering a selection of the limited-edition menu items too.
Hello Kitty is a global phenomenon spawning a range of merchandise, cafes and even her own aeroplane! Her appeal transcends both age and culture and she has inspired countless artists and designers over the last 43 years.
Last year, Soho's Cutter & Squidge was home to Europe's first Hello Kitty cafe in London.
Tombo’s walk-in only Hello Kitty pop-up is the best way for Londoners to sample a slice of Japanese culture without having to hop on a plane. It runs from 1 September until 8 October.
