Greggs offers sit-down candle-lit dinners for Valentine's Day
Is a steak bake the way to your heart?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. We all have different ideas of what food sums up true love - for some, it’s truffles, oysters and champagne, whereas for others it’s a box of 20 chicken nuggets.
But if the way to your heart is through a steak bake, sausage roll or pasty, your Valentine’s Day dreams may be about to come true.
This year, Greggs is offering couples the chance to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in selected shops across the UK for the very first time.
Diners will enjoy a special four course meal full of Greggs favourites including seasoned pork puff pastry sliders, love heart garnished bakes and a brochette of doughnuts.
And because this is Valentine’s Day and one must always #stayclassy, the whole feast will be washed down with prosecco.
There are five branches of Greggs across the UK that will be transformed into restaurants for the night, complete with mood lighting and music, roses, candelabras and white linen tablecloths:
- London – Stockwell (Clapham Road) - 312 Clapham Road, Greater London, SW9 9AE
- Manchester – City Tower - 15a City Tower, Manchester, M1 4BT
- Glasgow – Argyle Street - 172 Argyle Street, Glasgow, G3 8ND
- Newcastle – Grainger Street - 73/75 Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5JE
- Cardiff – Queen Street - 34 Queen Street, Cardiff, CF10 2BW
And you can forget ordering at the till - loved-up diners will be waited on at their own tables.
The menu has been created entirely from Greggs’ food, but with a special Valentine’s twist.
Menu

A Greggs spokesperson said: “For the first time in our history, we wanted to offer the public the opportunity to enjoy their Valentine’s Day evening in the comfort of their local Greggs.
“We’re delighted to offer this experience for fans for one night only – whether they’re on a first date or have been married for 30 years, we can guarantee it will be a night to remember.”
Greggs has teamed up with OpenTable for the event, which will cost £15 for two people and will be served for one night only on February 14 at 7pm.
Tables will be available to book from Wednesday 7th February exclusively via OpenTable; click here for more details.
