From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A brewery in Glasgow has launched a new beer as part of a wider campaign aimed at encouraging marginalised young people to vote in the upcoming general election.

Drygate has partnered with Rize Up to launch the beverage, which is an orange and mango-flavoured pale ale with 4.8 per cent ABV.

The beer will be free for young voters in Glasgow who can prove they signed up to vote before the 26 November deadline.

All budding drinkers need to do in order to claim their free drink is to bring their voter registration confirmation or polling card to the brewery, which is located in the city centre, and they will be rewarded with their complimentary can of beer.

According to Rize Up’s website, the beer itself is light gold and blends“bittersweet citrus flavours of vibrant fruits” with “the heavy tropical aromas of orange and mango”. There are also “hints of biscuit and a light note of toasty malt”.

Josh Cole, founder of Rize Up, said: “This snap election is one of the most significant of our lifetime, and it’s never been more important to get our message out there and to empower this hugely important generation to cast their vote.

“Our collaboration with Drygate has enabled us to create a symbol to unite our supporters across every generation with a gesture of positivity and solidarity.

"As it gains momentum in the coming days, we invite anyone who believes in change to join our movement and spread our message by raising a can of #RizeUpUK.”
