From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Now you can have the exquisite taste from the ambassador’s reception in a handy tablet format, as Ferrero Rocher is set to release a hazelnut ball chocolate bar this autumn.

Online food critic John Snack Reviews recently announced the news on his Instagram and a spokesperson from Ferrero Pralines told The Independent it was indeed true.

“We knew it would be difficult to keep the news under wraps for long! It’s not available just yet, but watch this space for more information, which we’ll share as we get closer to the launch.”

John commented on his post that he’s tried the Ferrero Rocher chocolate bars before, as they’re sold in Germany.

His review is that they are “really nice” but admits that he would always choose the original balls over the slabs of chocolate as “the bars don't have the wafer, the big hazelnut and the chocolate blob in the middle.”

The handy bars will fit in your bag and will be available in milk dark and white chocolate varieties, plus a Raffaello bar with almonds white cream and coconut, and a white chocolate flavour with almonds.

It’s predicted they will go on sale in UK stores from September 2021, but the official launch date is still under wraps.

Critic John urges fans to get excited about the news if you want to try them sooner. “Enough hype and they’ll bring the date forward,” he speculates.

Last week, Marks & Spencer announced it would be launching a new sweet treat: a hybrid of a cake and a biscuit dubbed the ‘biscake’.

The bakery item is a sponge cake with a biscuit base, and comes in three different varieties: lemon meringue, choc chip and cherry bakewell.

M&S said the product was designed the biscake to solve the dilemma of whether to have a cake or a biscuit with a cup of tea.
