Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It's Easter Day and if you haven't already consumed your body weight in chocolate, what better day to get out and celebrate with a saccharine hit?
East London riverside pub L'Oasis is giving out free Italian chocolate Easter eggs to anyone indulging in its Easter Sunday roast, while Claridge's in Mayfair is offering Valrhona Easter eggs hand-crafted by its own pastry chefs to anyone popping in for afternoon tea. Executive chef Andrew Turner at the Landau restaurant at the Langham Hotel, will also be dishing out complimentary chocolate eggs, but he has taken it one step further. Fancying himself in the Willy Wonka role, Turner has inserted winning vouchers into four eggs – the top prize is three nights at its sister Langham restaurant in Pasadena, California.
But if that's all too tasteful, you could try getting your hands on Krispy Kreme's Easter range, which features three doughnuts – coffee swirl, Belgian chocolate (pictured) and black forest – each one as over-the-top and indulgent as the next.
