From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The pizza delivery chain has announced the launch of oven-baked sandwiches - but only currently in Australia.
According to Nick Knight, CEO of Domino’s Australia and New Zealand, the fillings have been chosen to include “on-trend” ingredients such as avocado and kale-slaw.
There are four flavours from which customers can choose:
- Chicken, Bacon and Avocado
- Crispy Bacon and Sausage
- 6 Meats
- Crispy Chicken and Slaw
“At Domino’s, we are all about giving customers choice, which is why we are excited to be expanding our menu with new options,” Knight said.
“Our oven baked sandwiches are handmade to order and packed with premium ingredients.
“We pride ourselves on listening to our customers and delivering the flavours they’re asking for. Our oven baked sandwiches are packed with popular, high quality ingredients, allowing customers to indulge at a great price.”
This isn’t Domino’s first foray into sandwiches though. Nine years ago the pizza chain launched oven-baked sandwiches but they weren’t particularly well received, with customers complaining that they were too hard and crispy.
With that in mind, Knight says the company has been working on the new range for six months to make sure they’re “just right.”
“This time around, we are using a ciabatta that is light, fluffy and soft in the middle, while still having a delicious outer crust,” he explained.”
“We have also done extensive research and online testing to make sure we are using flavours we know our customers will love.”
Each sandwich costs from $5.95 (£3.36), but whether they’ll make Domino’s a one stop shop for both lunch and dinner remains to be seen.
