Dolce & Gabbana are marking the holiday season with designer Christmas pasta.

The Italian fashion house has teamed up with family-run pasta brand Pastificio Di Martino to release a limited edition set of festive pasta tins at ($110) £88 each.

No longer just a slave to the kitchen cupboard, D&G has given this humble staple the ultimate makeover and there are just 5,000 of the ornate tins available to buy worldwide.

When it comes to choosing your precious tin, you can select from a wide-range of classic Italian pastas - some of which you might not have even heard of.

There’s spaghetti (which we presume you’re familiar with), penne mezzani rigate, paccheri and mista corta.

Whichever pasta variation tickles your pickle, it will also come with a special Dolce & Gabbana apron, adorned with the colours and symbols of Italy.

The plush tins have been hailed as the perfect staple to impress dinner party guests, if you’re willing fork out nearly £100 for pasta, and are on sale now at Harrods.

It’s quite the upgrade from the usual student-esque savoir-fare that one might associate with the beloved carbohydrate.

Gone are the days when “pasta for dinner” called for little more than a tin of chopped tomatoes and a 500g bag of everyday value penne, which you can pick up in Tesco for 30p.

Dolce & Gabbana's domestic offerings don’t just stop at pasta either, the fashion house launched a high-end range of small kitchen appliances earlier this year in collaboration with Smeg.

That’s right, you can also get your hands on a designer toaster, kettle, blender and slow juicer.

It’s only a matter of time until Balenciaga starts reeling out £100 wooden spoons.
