It’s a cliché but there really are two men who are always there for you when you need them: Ben and Jerry.

While there’s a time for fro-yo and certainly a place for fancy gelato, sometimes only a tub of ice cream from the freezer will do, ideally eaten directly from the tub with a spoon, while you sit on the sofa and either laugh with your mates or cry into a rom-com.

But with so many flavours from which to choose, we all have our favourites. So to save you having an argument in the freezer aisle of the supermarket, we’ve ranked all the main flavours to help you make your decision.

It’s fine really, isn’t it? Much like a strawberry cheesecake itself. It’d never be any sensible person’s first choice of dessert.

11. Chocolate Fudge Brownie

Better than a standard chocolate ice cream thanks to the brownie pieces, but probably not going to blow your socks off. Good with strawberries.

10. Caramel Chew Chew

Now we’re getting somewhere. The distribution of swirls and chunks is good with this ice cream making it an obvious choice for caramel lovers. Arguably if it was salted it would be bumped up the ranking.

9. Cherry Garcia

Cherries and dark chocolate is a winning combo, making this a perfectly nice ice cream. Your nan’s probably going to be a fan.

8. Pretzel Palooza

One for those of us who live life by the ‘more is more’ approach, this tub is topped with chocolate fudgy goodness. The trouble is that once you’ve eaten the topping layer, it’s gone. And that’s a bit sad really.

7. Chunky Monkey

You can’t go wrong when combining bananas, chocolate and nuts, but banana purists may argue the flavour is somewhat artificial. A controversial one, is Chunky Monkey.

6. Phish Food

More delicious than it sounds, Phish Food is a real crowd pleaser. However it may just be - whisper it - overrated (don’t @ me).

5. Karamel Sutra Core

Ben & Jerry’s raised the game when they brought in the core range - everyone knows the more sauce the better when it comes to ice cream. This does, however, make it a tricky one to share. It’s every man for himself with a core tub.

A classic for a reason, cookie dough ice cream is something with which you don’t mess. As flawless as Harry Styles’ hair circa 2011.

3. Cookie Dough S’wich Up

Huh, OK maybe you do mess with cookie dough. 25 years after launching the original, Ben & Jerry’s only went and made it better - this version has been elevated and made even cookie-er, which can only be an excellent thing.

2. Half Baked

Like the ombre shades we all wish our hair would be, Half Baked is so simple, yet so perfect. It’s simply Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice creams twisted together, and we don’t know how no one thought of it sooner.

1. Peanut Butter Cup

Essentially, perfection in ice cream form. Peanut butter lends itself perfectly to the creaminess of ice cream (if you've ever had a peanut butter milkshake you’ll know what we’re saying), and the very slight hint of saltiness makes this the most addictive, moreish, satisfying Ben & Jerry’s flavour of them all.
