From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The budget supermarket’s spirits fought off stiff competition - some of which retail for three times the price - to take the top spots.
Gold medals were awarded to Aldi’s Highland Black Scotch Whisky (£12.99) and Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£17.49).
The Aldi Highland Black 8 Year Old Scotch Whisky was one of three gold medallists in the category of blends aged up to 12 years, alongside Scots Gold 12 Year Old and Chivas Regal 12 Year Old.
The Aldi Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was the only gold-winner in its price range for Islay single malts.
The competition sees a body of independent judges, including experienced bartenders, spirits journalists and spirits educators, conducting a series of blind taste tests in order to crown their winners.
Aldi’s Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£17.49) also picked up a Silver medal.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “It goes without saying that we are extremely proud of these results from the Spirits Business. This is the second year that our Highland Black Scotch Whisky has been voted best in the world and we are thrilled it has performed so well again!
“We are committed to bringing excellent value products to our shelves, and these results are further evidence of Aldi’s unwavering consistency in sourcing only the highest quality spirits for our shoppers.”
