From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

British paper The Sun reports that all four members of the jury of the successful UK talent show The X-Factor, including media mogul Simon Cowell and singer Cheryl Cole, have signed fragrance deals to release their 'own' scents for the holiday season.

Cowell and music manager Louis Walsh will create aftershaves while singers Cole (of girl group Girls Aloud) and Kylie's sister Danni Minogue will release feminine perfumes that they could imagine wearing themselves.

An insider told The Sun: "Simon says his will be the top-seller - he's already winding the other three up."

Cole, who has been signed by beauty giant L'Oréal recently, mentioned previously that she would like to create a signature fragrance, a popular means of upping sales before Christmas.

It is not the first time that X-Factor is monetizing its brand through the fragrance business: its debut scent, which was supposed to bottle the "excitement" of the X-Factor phenomenon in general, went on sale in 2007.
