From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"Kisses from posh and baby posh" the designer captioned a mirror selfie.
In the photo, Victoria and her nine-year-old daughter are both wearing similar style spaghetti-strap mini dresses.
The little black dress recalls some of Victoria's most iconic archive fashion moments. When she joined the Spice Girls in the 1990s, Victoria often wore Gucci-inspired black spaghetti-strap minis on tour and for press events while pulling the band's signature 'Girl Power' pose with a peace sign.
Harper wears a white iteration of the dress in the picture, which recalls the style of Baby Spice, Emma Bunton.
Signalling her approval of the copy-cat moment, Bunton swiftly commented on the photo after it was posted with a peace sign and girl emoji.
Slip dresses are a big trend for spring/summer 2020, though Victoria's latest collections have been dominated by more bohemian style midis and maxis. For autumn/winter, tweed, florals and 1970s style silhouettes dominate the designer's offering.
Victoria did not confirm whether the dress is a piece from her Spice Girls wardrobe, nor whether Harper's mini-me version is also from her own wardrobe.
The initialled phone case which Harper holds is by celebrity favourite, Chaos.
Following the announcement of a provisional schedule for September fashion week, Victoria is slated to be showing her next collection in both physical and virtual formats, alongside brands including Burberry, Erdem and Temperley London.
