Pretty in pink: The romantic make-up look to try this Valentine’s Day
From the age-old classic rose red lips to bubblegum shades for cheeks and mauvey-pink tones on eyes, Sarah Young shares how to get the romantic look

Love is in the air and regardless of whether you are going on a date or hitting the town with friends for an anti-Valentine’s do, you’re going to want to look good for the occasion.
And for a day devoted to love, that means injecting your beauty look with bubblegum, rose and mauve-y pink tones.
Great for adding a touch of romance, these shades are super-fun to work with and while pink has long been relegated to the lips and cheeks, nowadays it can be worn on your eyes too.
A trend that’s easier to pull off than you think, the easiest way to wear pink on your lids is with a subtle wash of colour – just make sure to counteract any dark shadows beneath with an illuminating concealer.
If you’re feeling brave this V-day though, steal the smokey eye’s crown and introduce darker shades to the crease to create more intense look.
For a subtle finish, we recommend rounding off the look by grooming your brows, covering any blemishes and swiping a slick of gloss across your lips.
However, for a more directional look don’t be afraid to play with colour.

A red lip is the beauty equivalent of the little black dress but, when paired with a pretty pink eye, it becomes seriously fierce.
Beautifully conflicting, a crimson pout is the ultimate statement and while a bright shade will bolster pale pink shades, a deeper berry red strikes just the right note between classic and vampy.

If this all sounds a bit too outré for your taste though, stick to what you know and opt for romantic flushed cheeks instead.
Here, pick a pink shade that will give your guise a barely-there blushing effect and don’t forget to make those cheekbones pop with a dab of highlighter.
