Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Supreme launched its latest collaboration with French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier today.

The highly anticipated collection includes both menswear and womenswear, with items ranging from spray-painted denim jackets to faux-fur plaid coats in bright colours.

Floral athleisure sweatpants and matching sweatshirts, leather holsters and bomber jackets have also been released as part of the collaboration, as have sunglasses, cologne and sneakers.

Photos from the collection see Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, model a pair of printed red trousers emblazoned with the slogan “f*** racism” and an oversized pinstripe blazer.

Leon is a fitting choice considering Gaultier designed Madonna's now-iconic cone bra bodices for her 1990 Blond Ambition tour. The anti-racism message is a nod to Gaultier’s “Fight Racism” collection of the 90’s.

In another photo from the collection, a model shows off a brown bomber jacket (also available in grey) combined with a reversible backpack.

A pinstripe vest and matching pants offer a more business-like look to the line, which is rounded out with Hawaiian-inspired button downs.

Of the partnership, the French designer, who rose to prominence in the 80’s, told Australian Vogue: “I have been including elements of sportswear in my collections from the very beginning.

“With Supreme, this inspiration will find its way to a new generation.”

As for his inspiration for the collection, Gaultier was in part inspired the “exchange of cultures on Paris’s streets”.

Gaultier is the latest designer to partner with Supreme, which has released collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Thom Browne, Comme des Garcons and North Face in the past.

The collection is available in-store in New York, Brooklyn, LA, London, and Paris and online, and in Japan on 13 April.

Supreme x Jean Paul Gaultier comes weeks after Supreme announced a new collection with Italian menswear brand Stone Island for spring/summer 2019.

In the past, collaborations from the streetwear designer have sold out in record time, with this one likely to be met with the same excitement.
