From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Adidas is releasing a new line of sustainable Stan Smith trainers themed around Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters.
The trainers feature a "Primegreen" upper, which is made from recycled materials, and have recycled rubber soles. Adidas has said it wants to help end plastic waste and recently updated its shoe boxes so they are composed of more than 90 per cent recycled paper.
The collection features green-coloured characters including Kermit the Frog (the heel tabs on the Kermit shoes are, of course, emblazoned with "It’s not easy being green"), Rex from Toy Story and Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.
An advert for the new trainers features Kermit the Frog delivering his well-known catchphrase and speaking about the challenges of contributing to a more sustainable future.
The new line of trainers is the latest collection to feature Adidas’s "Primegreen" upper, which was originally released in January this year as part of a sustainability drive for the company.

The Disney-themed line launches online on 29 March and is available in selected stores worldwide from 1 April. In the UK, non-essential shops open from 12 April.
Last year, Adidas launched its first maternity activewear collection.
The fabric used was designed to grow and stretch with the body and to offer comfort and support for people of a wide range of body shapes and sizes.
This collection was also made using Adidas’s "Primegreen" selection of recycled materials.
Aimee Arana, general manager, Adidas Global Training said: “We understand that movement can have profoundly positive effects on our personal wellbeing and truly believe that sport is for everyone, with this collection marking another step in making our offering as inclusive as possible.
“With the body experiencing daily change throughout the journey of motherhood, it was paramount we worked closely with a community of expecting women to understand exactly what they need from their activewear, through each trimester and postpartum."
