From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The celebrity couple wore matching ensembles at the fashion spectacle, donning geometric, 1980s-inspired outfits by Louis Vuitton.
Their arrival at the Met Gala marks the first time the Game of Thrones actor and Jonas Brothers singer have taken part in a public engagement since exchanging their vows.
Following the Billboard Music Awards on Thursday 2 May, the pair were married in a surprise ceremony, which was documented on Instagram by American DJ Diplo.
Their wedding was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in front of a small, intimate crowd of friends and family.
For the Met Gala, Turner specifically chose to opt for a jumpsuit rather than a dress.
"She kind of looks like a superhero. She's not so much a gown person, though she wears them on occasion, so a jumpsuit look suits her," the actor's stylist Kate Young told People.
Young added that while Jonas has his "own style", the couple like to co-ordinate. "They tend to do that," Young added.
The theme for this year's Met Gala was "Camp: Notes on Fashion", taking inspiration from American writer Susan Sontag's 1964 essay "Notes on 'Camp'".
Stars including Lady Gaga, Zendaya and Cardi B led the way on the pink carpet, donning exuberant ensembles created by designers including Brandon Maxwell, Tommy Hilfiger and Thom Browne.
The dramatic unveiling of Gaga's four pink and black Maxwell outfits was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the evening.
