From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Oh’s stint as co-host of the 2019 Golden Globes alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Andy Samberg went down a storm with viewers of the annual award show.
The night was a particularly eventful one for Oh, who made history as the first woman of Asian descent to win the accolade for best actress in a TV drama in almost 40 years.
After the ceremony had ended, Oh, Samberg and other guests of the show headed to a private after-party with tequila brand Don Julio in West Hollywood, California.
Having worn an array of stunning gowns throughout the evening, including an elegant white Versace number for her red carpet appearance with Killing Eve co-star Jodie Comer, Oh chose to change into a tuxedo-style jumpsuit for the remainder of the evening.
Oh's stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman, explains to People that comfort was key when selecting the actor's after-party look.
"Sandra's a sneakers, dance-aholic, fun, let-me-wear-my-own-clothes girl," Saltzman says.
The jumpsuit was sourced from Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop fashion line G. Label, and retails at $850 (£666).
Numerous people have expressed their admiration over Oh’s laid-back style, describing her decision to pair the jumpsuit with a diamond necklace and trainers as “iconic”.
“Sandra Oh looked amazing all night, but this jumpsuit, sneakers and diamonds ensemble at a post-party might be my fave,” one person wrote.
“Sandra Oh drinking whisky in diamonds a jumpsuit and sneakers is the energy I’m carrying THROUGHOUT 2019. YES gurl,” someone else remarked.
One person even stated that they when they get married, they want to have a wedding topper on their cake that looks like Sandra Oh in her jumpsuit.
“I’m invested into that look. Such a power moment,” they continued.
Oh continued to raise the style stakes even further following the Golden Globes after-party.
She later posted a photo on Twitter that showed her lying on a hotel floor in a Onepiece onesie and the same diamond necklace, surrounded by the remains of a celebratory feast.
“Thank you to all my Team(s),” she wrote in the caption.
“She switched the victory jumpsuit for a victory onesie and kept the bling on underneath we LOVE sandra oh!” one fan wrote in response to her outfits.
“Sandra Oh living her best life,” another person added.
The second season of Killing Eve, which was nominated for best drama television series at the Golden Globes, is due to air this year.
