From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The stars were out in force on Sunday evening for the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, otherwise known as the SAG Awards.

As one of the most prestigious ceremonies of the Hollywood award season, the SAG red carpet welcomed the industry's biggest names including Reese Witherspoon, Margot Robbie, Glenn Close and Brad Pitt as they came together to celebrate the most outstanding performances in film and television over the past 12 months.

Each year, celebrities contend for the coveted best-dressed accolade.

As the third ceremony of awards season, stars had clearly found their sartorial rhythm on the red carpet at the SAG Awards as it proved to be one of the most colourful so far.

From Cynthia Erivo’s show-stopping Schiaparelli gown that featured a red top and contrasting fuchsia train to Sophie Turner’s pink Louis Vuitton number and Kathryn Newton’s neon orange Valentino ballgown, the stars were not afraid to break all the rules of traditional red-carpet garb.

Metallics also proved a popular trend among several A-listers, with Renee Zellwegger, Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansson leading the way in lustrous gowns.
