From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On Thursday, the singer-turned-beauty mogul posted on Instagram about her namesake company’s global expansion, revealing that her fans will be able to shop their favourite Fenty Beauty products in Hong Kong, Macau, Seoul and Jeju in South Korea from September.
“When I launched @fentybeauty in 2017, it was important to me to make sure it was available globally so everyone had access to it,” the music artist captioned a photograph of herself wearing her brand’s products.
The 31-year-old continued to list the countries and shops in Asia where beauty fans will be able to buy her products, including Sephora and BEAUTY AVENUE, much to her fans' glee.
Several of the star’s Instagram followers commented on her post to share their joy at being able to shop for the products in store.
“Yesss!! Growing bigger and bigger,” wrote one user.
“You did what needed to be done and we thank you for it!” wrote another.
The news comes weeks after Rihanna announced that Britons would finally be able to shop her beauty line on the British high street.
In May, the Bajan singer announced her brand’s partnership with health and beauty retailer Boots on Twitter.
Sharing the news with her 90 million followers, the singer tweeted: “@fentybeauty is officially taking over the UK! I’m here to announce our brand new partnership with @BootsUK !!
“Look out for us at locations from MAY 10th!! I’m so excited, I love Boots and I love my UK fans!!! Get ready for #FENTYBEAUTYxBOOTS!!.”
Fenty Beauty was previously exclusively available to buy in store and online at luxury department store Harvey Nichols.
Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in September 2017, offering a range of 40 shades of foundation and 20 concealers for all skin colours, to critical acclaim.
Earlier this year, the beauty entrepreneur officially confirmed she was launching her own fashion label with LVMH, with the same name as her popular beauty line, Fenty.
The pop star announced she would be collaborating with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s largest luxury group, in May, after months of speculation.
The singer is the first woman of colour at the top of an LVMH maison, according to The New York Times.
Rihanna first launched the streetwear brand Fenty in 2016 with Puma, and has since expanded the line into lingerie with the body-positive Savage x Fenty.
