Several adult film stars whose work is shown on pornography website Pornhub are to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.

According to the designers’ for whom the actors are to model, their appearance on the catwalk will make a “feminist statement” at the biannual fashion show.

One of the adult film stars set to take to the runway is Asa Akira, an ambassador for Pornhub and an adult film director.

She will be joined by pornographic actors Marica Hase and Jade Kush, walking for Berlin-based design duo Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, of the fashion label Namilia, on Sunday 9 February.

Li explained the significance of the actors’ inclusion in the modelling of the clothing collection, which is named “Herotica”.

“The cosmos of sexual pleasure has been restricted to a few boring and chauvinistic narratives for the pleasure of the male gaze,” the fashion designer told Page Six.

Porn isn’t something existentially male. Most women just have been excluded from determining the narrative.”

Akira celebrated her upcoming appearance at New York Fashion Week on Instagram, writing: “See u on the runway, @_namilia_!!! @pornhub,” in a post’s caption.

This will mark the first time that Pornhub stars join runway models on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week.

In 2016 Pornhub collaborated with fashion designer Shayne Oliver, founder of fashion label Hood by Air, to showcase a “radically aggressive streetwear” collection for the brand’s spring 2017 collection.

Last year, it was reported that the UK was to introduce new regulations that would legally require porn sites to carry out “robust age-verification checks on users”.

However, in June it was announced that the porn block had been delayed indefinitely due to an “administrative oversight”.
