Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Fashion week wraps up in New York February 18, with some of the biggest brands (Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren) showing on this last day. Here are the highlights so far.

Marc Jacobs - The US designer and his business partner Robert Duffy jointly tore away a paper curtain, kicking off a nostalgic show that has garnered nothing but raving reviews. The presentation for his Marc by Marc Jacobs show can be watched here.

Alexander Wang - New York's darling du jour failed to excite the crowd as much as Jacobs, but his velvet-y and grunge-inspired designs were symptomatic of general trends prevailing this season.

Thakoon - One of Michelle Obama's favorites, Thakoon presented laid-back, layered winter looks, using the fashion week's other dominant material: fur. For a video of MObama's other pet designer, Jason Wu, click here.

Carolina Herrera - The New York grande dame of luxury's collection was all about timeless elegance. MBFWNewYork also has clips from BCBG's and Diane von Furstenberg's shows, among others.

Victoria Beckham - The star, sitting between fashion writers Hamish Bowles ( Vogue) and Hilary Alexander ( The Telegraph) narrated her presentation, inspired by the Dick Tracy area, herself, and attracted much acclaim for her classic dresses.

L.A.M.B - Another celebrity, Gwen Stefani - aka the mother of celebrity fashion lines - worked some of her signature styles, including the trendy plaid, into her collection. For more celebrity design from Alexa Chung for Madewell, click here.

Charlotte Ronson - If you are the sister of Amy Winehouse producer Mark Ronson and DJane (and Lindsay Lohan's ex-girlfriend) Samantha Ronson, you are pretty much set for hipster stardom. And it helps that Charlotte Ronson's collection was actually good.

Fashion for Relief - Naomi Campbell's charity show to benefit Haiti's earthquake victims saw fashion personalities including designers Donna Karan and Diane von Furstenberg as well as models such as Agyness Deyn (who fell twice) and Helena Christensen stomp down the runway.
