Weekly fashion indicators: McQueen, Kim Kardashian, chain necklaces
On February 2, there is much more movement regarding the popularity of fashion brands than that of celebrities.
While British designer Alexander McQueen continues to inspire Polyvore users with his outlandish creations, there are five new brands that entered the top ten this week: Halston might have got a boost from the confirmation that Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker will be consulting in the future and Givenchy's polarizing haute couture collection provided rich possibilities for the site's moodboards. Acne gained four spots, potentially through its announcement of a furniture line.
Kim Kardashian rocketed to the number one spot in celebrities as a new entry this week, probably due to the launch of her fragrance, which inspired ad-like creations on Polyvore. The rest of the list remained rather stable, with last week's top star Amy Adams, and models Jessica Stam, Natalia Vodianova, and Anja Rubik still ranking high. Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen topped usual favorite Blake Lively this week, but Leighton Meester remains the most popular of the cast.
In trends, all things studded and vintage were high in demand, and Net-à-Porter gained popularity in websites, most probably due to its shopping trip giveaway.
